While the apprentice program is the first of its kind in the corporate world, the concept is closely linked to The Stable’s CEO and Co-Founder, Chad Hetherington, who did not attend college. Instead, he focused on building his career through real-world experience, mentorship, and a relentless drive for success. Last year, he decided to give the same opportunity to one lucky candidate.
The Stable launched its search for the very first Executive Apprentice in the fall of 2021. After hundreds of applications, The Stable officially hired Grace Slaubaugh in March 2022. Now, The Stable is bringing the #NoCollegeNoWorries movement back for the second year in a row…this time, in Northwest Arkansas!
“I’m incredibly thankful for the sheer possibility that comes with this role. I’m so excited to take it all in and see where I thrive. The Stable’s mission and company culture seem like it will mesh really well with my personal values. I want to be a part of things that align with what I believe in – to me, it’s not just a job.”
– Grace Slaubaugh, 2022 Executive Apprentice

Yes, the Executive Apprentice will receive a competitive salary and benefits.
At this time, we’re looking for one Executive Apprentice, but this amount could change based on the response we receive.
The first two months the Apprentice will rotate between each department to learn the foundations of how the department operates and adds value at The Stable. They will also complete mini-projects to reinforce learning and have assigned LinkedIn Learning courses to further build skill set and knowledge. After the department rotations, we will (in partnership with the Apprentice) identify two (2) six month assignments to gain deeper knowledge and experience.
Assuming we both feel The Stable is a good fit, we are hopeful to offer an opportunity to join us full-time in a permanent position.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is intellectually curious, willing to take risks and face new challenges, loves being part of a team environment and can demonstrate how they’ve tried to make the most of life’s opportunities.
Yes, it does. We have many roles that are open to college graduates, but believe this program is created for those who haven’t had the opportunity to go to college and our desire is to help pave the way for a successful career for these individuals.
